Lime Crime 'Milky Ways' & butter London 'Chancer'

Usually, white or cream polishes have difficult formulas (meaning they're streaky, don't cover well and need many coats to cover the nail). I absolutely LOVE Rescue Beauty Lounge's 'Bella' as it's a jelly-cream hybrid with a slighly off white hue. You can literally get away with 2 coats or 3 for full opacity. That polish can be purchased here for $20.00. And, yes, I will tell you it's worth the price! Well, I found a polish that's more on the cream side that has an effortless formula that only requires 2 coats. Behold Lime Crime 'Milky Ways'...

Are you drooling? I will say it's less yellow and more cream with a hint of peach (very subtle).

Like how I snuck in the puppy shot? ^_^ Of course, I couldn't leave my nails alone so I added butter London 'Chancer' to my accent nails (2 coats). This polish has a sheer red base with very fine red glitter that covers perfectly in just 2 coats.

butter London 'All Hail The Queen'

On behalf of ULTA's *today (9/10/12) only* BOGO butter London sale I had to wear butter London's 'All Hail The Queen'. I'd describe this color as a medium taupe with a scattered holographic effect. I used two coats and 1 coat of CND's Air Dry topcoat. This color (& 'Yummy Mummy') is a staple in everyone's collection. I'm really glad it's starting to cool off outside so I can wear these lovely muted shades! Now for the photos...

Coral and Gold Summer Sponge Mani

Hello Readers,

I told you guys I'd be better about posting from now on! ^_^ I'm happy that I'm on the ball again! Ok, today I have a simple sponging mani with butter London 'Trout Pout' as the base and 'The Full Monty' as the color that's sponged over the base. Trout Pout is a bright coral that can appear soft and more pink or bright and more orange depending on the light. I have to say I really hated the formula, it was very watery and streaky. I'm not picky at all but I really didn't like this one although I do LOVE the color! The Full Monty is a great soft gold foil that is PERFECT (as is 'Diamond Geezer' & 'The Old Bill') for sponging as they build nicely and give that beautiful 'fleck' look on the nail.

Now for the photos!

And then I decided to add something...
I added just a bit of Sephora by OPI 'Only Gold for Me' topcoat at the tips :oD
Have you guys tried sponging before? All I did was bought a bag of make up sponges (the triangles) and cut each one into about 5 pieces (small & that way you get tons of mani's from 1 bag!). It takes a little bit of practice but honestly I've only done it a handful of times and it's pretty easy. Butter London polishes cost $14 and can be found on their website or at Ulta online and in stores. Sephora by OPI can be found at Sephora online or in stores only and cost $9.50.

Me likey... what do you guys think??

Bridget

An 80's Moment...

Hello Readers,

Today, I have kind of a crazy fun mani, to be honest I had an 80's moment. Right after I did this it made me think of 'Saved by the Bell' and 'The Max'! I used a few different colors and topcoats to make this look. I used a brand I got at Target called 'Pixi Glow' called 'Pirouette Pink' that's a chalky neon pink with a slight shimmer, butter London 'Slapper' which is a bright teal-turquoise, Nicole by OPI 'Nothing Kim-Pares to Blue' which is a periwinkle shimmer, Dandy Nails 'Funhouse' which has a clear base with bright fuchsia, bright teal-turquoise shards, and a fine silver shimmer and 'Wingless' which has the same clear base and fine silver glitter but with a light gold and aqua colored shards.

Now for the pics!!!
L-R: Dandy Nails 'Funhouse', Pixi Glow 'Pirouette Pink', butter London 'Slapper', Nicoloe by OPI 'Nothing Kim-Pares to Blue'

Can you just visualize the opening credits of 'Saved by the Bell' with all of the geometric shapes flying around in the background? I think this is a fun mani but certainly not work appropriate! What do you guys think?

Cheers,
Bridget

I ♥ Nude Shades!

Hello Pretty Ladies!

Today, I thought I'd do a little comparison post of 5 of my favorite nude/neutral taupe shades. I did 2 coats of each color and added a topcoat at the end.

All the polishes used...
From L-R:  Color Club 'Love 'Em/Leave 'Em', butter London 'All Hail The Queen', butter London 'Yummy Mummy', Cult Nails 'Crusin' Nude', & Priti NYC 'Mushroom Flower'
 On my nails...

On my nails with cooler lighting...

With flash...

My take on these colors:
  • Color Club 'Love 'Em/Leave 'Em' - A warm tawny taupe with a holographic packed shimmer
  • butter London 'All Hail The Queen' - A slightly cool toned taupe with a slight holographic shimmer and hot pink overtone
  • butter London 'Yummy Mummy' - A cool toned nude/taupe with a very fine silver, pink, and blue-green shimmer
  • Cult Nails 'Crusin' Nude' - A cool (more greenish) toned nude/taupe with a pinkish purple shimmer.
  • Priti NYC Polish 'Mushroom Flower' - A warm toned nude/taupe with a fine silver, pink, and blue-green shimmer. I'd say this is similar to bL 'Yummy Mummy' only the color is warmer and the shimmer isn't as fine.

So, what do you ladies think? What's your favorite nude shade?

Cheers,

Bridget

24 Days of Christmas Nails - Day 1: Snowfall

Hey Ladies,

I'm SUPER excited to participate in '24 Days of Christmas Nails' with both Sabine from My Polish Stash and Shannara from Nails and Stuff so don't forget to check out their nails as well!

This idea was started by Paint that Nail so props to her. ^_^

Here is my 'Snowfall' design:

Natural light in shade

My vision was thinking about what falling snow actually looks like; you have shadow, it's not usually sunny outside (overcast, hence the grays and blues), and then you have the white snow. I tried to make the 'sky' at the top of my nails and then the snow collected towards the beds of my nails.

What I did to create this look:
  1. I painted my nails with two coats of butter London's 'Lady Muck'
  2. I painted Pure ICE 'Super Star' towards the bottom of the nail then used a sponge to fade it about half way on the nail.
  3. I painted random dots using a dotting tool with both OPI 'DS Coronation' and 'DS Sapphire'. I thought silver and gray-blue colors would look good creating that 'shadow look' I was going for!
  4. I let the dots dry then put one coat of Orly's 'Winter Wonderland' to give that shiny icy look that snow has.
  5. I let that dry then I did different sized (and I was going for imperfect) white dots all over the nail.
  6. I let that dry and added one coat of Nubar's 'Dewdrop' just to make sure the white still somewhat hidden.
  7. I finished with coat of 'Out the door' top coat! And voila!

What do you guys think? Does it remind you of a lovely snow storm?  Don't forget to check out Sabine's design from My Polish Stash and Shannara's design from Nails and Stuff !!!

Cheers,
Bridget

butter London 'Aston'

Hello Ladies!

So, I was thinking what color I wanted to wear next and I immediately thought of butter London's 'Aston'. I don't think this color gets enough credit. Yeah, it's not a "fun" color but there's nothing like it! I'd describe it as a 'neutral muted brownish medium toned mauve'. It so happens my Mom's an artist (possesses a B.F.A.) and I asked her opinion on this fascinated color. I'll say it changes depending on the lighting, it can be very brownish or it can be more mauve. Either way it's a unique color. It also has an amazing silver shimmer which makes it more interesting.

Probably one of the biggest turn offs about this polish is that it was a bit gloppy. Now, I'm personally a big fan of thick polishes but this dries fast and gets gloppy very easily around the opening of the bottle. Mind you... this is my ONLY complaint. :o) You can find butter London polishes at ULTA in-stores and online for $14.00. Of course, there are other shops that carry their products and the butter London website carries all of their products!

I took all the photos outside with no bright sun, so the lighting isn't intense but you can get a true read of this color.

What this polish reminds me of... terra cotta tile (in my kitchen)
What do you guys think of this color? Is it something you would wear?
