A Flakey Layering Experiment

Hello Readers!

Today, I have a quick yet very exciting post for you featuring Essie 'No More Film' topped with Cult Nails 'Seduction' vs. Deborah Lippman 'Ray of Light'. I used 1 coat of No More Film followed by 1 coat of Seduction on every other nail (indicated in photo) and 2 coats of Ray of Light on every other nail (indicated in photo).

L-R: Deborah Lippmann 'Ray of Light', Cult Nails 'Seduction' & Essie 'No More Film'

The comparison, CN = Essie + Cult Nails & DL = Deborah Lippmann
Close up, can you guess which is which? Yeah, me too but pretty close! Right?!

So, what do you guys think?? The CN polish is much more intense and not nearly as thick as the DL and the flaky effect is more intense. Essie can be purchased about anywhere and the Deborah Lippmann is available directly on her website. The Cult Nails polish is LE (limited edition) and can be found here, I'd hurry up and get it if you're a flaky fan!

'Til next time! If you don't already follow me on twitter @bmwmchick.

Cheers,
Bridget

Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Killa Red'

Hello Readers!

So, today I have Rescue Beauty Lounge 'Killa Red' and I must say it is killer! This is a color that's hard to capture because it's jelly red; depending on the light it can appear to be a bright cool cherry red or a deep maroon.

Photos are taken in my new light box (yay!) with the most neutral lighting I could use to show you this color. All photos are taken with 2 coats of RBL Killa Red, 1 coat of French Tip Dip's top coat, and 1 coat of Essie 'Pure Pearlfection' on my ring finger.

I love how RBL's very own Ji leaves her sig on all the limited edition polishes

Me trying to show how the polish changes to a dark deep red with less light/shade

So, if you ladies don't already know Rescue Beauty Lounge has brought back their vintage RBL's that include Killa Red. You can purchase these '5 free' polishes here. They're $18 and $100 gets you free shipping. What do you ladies think? Do you own this color? If you do, do these photos show the color accurately?

Bridget

24 Days of Christmas Nails - Day 7: Gingerbread Man

Hey Ladies,

I'm SUPER excited to participate in '24 Days of Christmas Nails' with both Sabine from My Polish Stash and Shannara from Nails and Stuff so don't forget to check out their nails as well!

This idea was started by Paint that Nail so props to her. ^_^

As a side note - my nails were getting SO frail I couldn't stand it any longer so I cut them down... yes now I have 5 year old hands ;o\ but they needed to be cut!

Here is my 'Gingerbread Man' design:

All the colors I used from left to right:  Pure ICE 'Super Star', Essie 'Cocktail Bling', Illamasqua 'Raindrops', Essie 'Hot Coco', China Glaze 'Lemon Fizz', Revlon 'Royal Cloak', Essie 'Knockout Pout', Essie 'Pretty Edgy', Sephora by OPI 'Sample Sale, and Nfu-Oh '62'

My drive home... the sun was blinding yet it was so dark from the clouds!
I'm trying to hang in there and keep up with this challenge!!! Can you tell? :o) Note that I do not have any brushes, this is all done with the same size dotting tool. This is my first try at nail art!

Hope you all enjoyed this design! Don't forget to check out Sabine's design from My Polish Stash and Shannara's design from Nails and Stuff !!!

24 Days of Christmas Nails - Day 6: Penguins

Here is my 'Penguins' design (I did one, so no plural here :o):

I wanted him to look more like a cartoon lol
He kinda looks like he's on drugs
I apologize once again for the short nails and crappy pictures! I have finals, work and a short vacation coming up. Although, on vacation I'll have time to do my nails! Ok, so my original idea was to make kind of a funny looking cartoon penguin. I only spent 5 minutes (all I had) so sorry for the 'not so neat' painting job. I'll be making up for it soon, I promise! I used Wet N' Wild 'Black Crème', China Glaze 'Lorelei's Tiara', Essie 'Chubby Cheeks', OPI 'What's With The Cattitude?', Essie 'Coat Azure', Pure ICE 'Super Star', and Sinful Colors '24/7'.

Hope you all enjoyed this design! Don't forget to check out Sabine's design from My Polish Stash and Shannara's design from Nails and Stuff !!!

Cheers,
Bridget

I'm SUPER excited to participate in '24 Days of Christmas Nails' with both Sabine from My Polish Stash and Shannara from Nails and Stuff so don't forget to check out their nails as well!

This idea was started by Paint that Nail so props to her. ^_^

Here is my 'Snowman' design:

Colors used from left to right:  Essie 'Bobbing for Baubles', Ulta 'Concrete Evidence', China Glaze 'Snow Globe', Essie 'Chubby Cheeks', Cult Nails 'Power Thief', and Went N' Wild 'Black Crème'

In natural light

In natural light with our party color cocker spaniel 'Lucky' in the background :o)

Hope you all enjoyed this design! My intent was to make this a snowman at night, that's why he's gray, the orange isn't too bright and the background is a dark gray-blue shade.

Don't forget to check out Sabine's design from My Polish Stash and Shannara's design from Nails and Stuff !!!

ULTA Professional 'For Bitten'

Hello Readers,

I really like to go back and forth between light and dark shades so here I have swatched a dark shade. ULTA Professional's 'For Bitten' has a black base LOADED with a plum-purple glitter. It's interesting because in the bottle you almost see a green/gold glitter but it doesn't show up on the nail at all. None the less, it's loaded with glitter and shines like mad in natural/artificial light.

I used two coats and then 1 coat of Essie's 'good to go' top coat. Don't forget to wrap the tips to prolong your manicure! Do you guys like dark colors? If you don't normally wear dark shades I'd try this, it's dark but fun and full of life!

Cheers,

Bridget

*Layering Post* with Cult Nails 'Clairvoyant'

Hello Readers!

First of all, I apologize for taking so long to get another post up but there are some good ones coming up soon!

So, we all know how incredibly popular (and for good reason) Cult Nails 'Clairvoyant' has been during both the pre-sale for the 'Super Powers Collection' and their current sale that's ends this Monday 11/28/11. If you don't know 'Clairvoyant' is the same flakey we all know and love that was previously named 'Unicorn Puke'. While 'Clairvoyant' is currently sold out, the onwer, Maria, has ordered more and has approximated that more will be available in February.

Alright, now for the good stuff! I know everyone always layers 'Clairvoyant' with black, dark grays, and blues but I wanted to choose a few different colors to see what they looked like with this amazing gel-like blue-purple multi-colored flakey polish!

All the colors used:

From left to right: Cult Nails 'Power Thief', Pure ICE 'Super Star', China Glaze 'Sky High-Top', Revlon 'Royal Cloak', Essie 'French Affair', Cult Nails 'Clairvoyant'

Close up of Cult Nails 'Clairvoyant':
This polish is MADE for amazing layering, either on top or between sheer polishes. I'd say it has a blue-purple sheer base with different sized flakes that are pink, purple, blue, and green. Stunning!

Close up of Cult Nails 'Power Thief':
I must say this color is a favorite, it's like a hot cocoa with silver, pink and green micro-glitter (same as their 'Let Me Fly' polish) which is just stunning. Nearly opaque with one coat, 2 coats makes it absolutely perfect! I will be ordering an extra ^_^

Five different shades layered with 1 coat of 'Clairvoyant' on all but the white and pink shade, for those I used 2 coats:
From pinky nail to thumb nail: Cult Nails 'Power Thief', Pure ICE 'Super Star', China Glaze 'Sky High-Top', Revlon 'Royal Cloak', Essie 'French Affair'
Fun close-up of all the colors layered:
From pinky nail to thumb nail: Cult Nails 'Power Thief', Pure ICE 'Super Star', China Glaze 'Sky High-Top', Revlon 'Royal Cloak', Essie 'French Affair'

So, what do you guys think of Cult Nails 'Clairvoyant'? Do you just love the pink, purple, blue, and green flakey polish or what??! I would highly recommend signing up to receive their latest updates, sales, and news events here so you never miss out!

Cheers,
Bridget
