Coral and Gold Summer Sponge Mani

Hello Readers,

I told you guys I'd be better about posting from now on! ^_^ I'm happy that I'm on the ball again! Ok, today I have a simple sponging mani with butter London 'Trout Pout' as the base and 'The Full Monty' as the color that's sponged over the base. Trout Pout is a bright coral that can appear soft and more pink or bright and more orange depending on the light. I have to say I really hated the formula, it was very watery and streaky. I'm not picky at all but I really didn't like this one although I do LOVE the color! The Full Monty is a great soft gold foil that is PERFECT (as is 'Diamond Geezer' & 'The Old Bill') for sponging as they build nicely and give that beautiful 'fleck' look on the nail.

Now for the photos!

And then I decided to add something...
I added just a bit of Sephora by OPI 'Only Gold for Me' topcoat at the tips :oD
Have you guys tried sponging before? All I did was bought a bag of make up sponges (the triangles) and cut each one into about 5 pieces (small & that way you get tons of mani's from 1 bag!). It takes a little bit of practice but honestly I've only done it a handful of times and it's pretty easy. Butter London polishes cost $14 and can be found on their website or at Ulta online and in stores. Sephora by OPI can be found at Sephora online or in stores only and cost $9.50.

Me likey... what do you guys think??

Cheers,
Bridget

Great combo Bridget!! My sponging never comes out the way I like it.

Haha! Thanks ;oD

Thanks, Jessica! I thought about mattifying it too, that would be a neat look!

Thanks Esther! It helps to blot off a bit of it, and do most of the nail and then just keep building up. Some polishes work better than others for sure!

Thanks, Marisa! Well, I'm glad I can do something right! Haha, but really some polishes work well and others don't.

I typically dislike gold polish, i'm more of a silver person when it comes to polish and jewelry, but mixed with that coral color, the gold is perfect! It's so pretty! I may have to copy this with my gold polish i never use.

Awesome! I should try this color combination once, because it's so nice together! :)

And yeah, I sponged before. Today I did it for the 3rd time in a row ;p

This looks super sleek. I never would have thought to combine pink and gold, but it totally works! I'd like to try the sponge gradient some time. I like the "inspired layering" type of nail art much more than the more intricate designs.

I really like this gold because it's soft, not harsh or too yellow-orange, glad you like it :o)

Thank you :o) It's pretty fun and the time is totally worth it!

Thanks, Scott. I think the base being on the warmer side and the gold being so soft makes them such a great pair. Sponging is great, it's worth the time and of course it's not nearly time consuming as other nail art designs.

Thanks, girl! Me too... formula sucks, just like Essie 'A Crewed Interest' which I also love the color of!
